Teaching at MBPS is a collaborative effort, with teacher Carolyn upholding the values of Waldorf education. Our rhythms of extensive outdoor and indoor free play time; songs, rhymes and games in our outdoor and indoor circles; oral storytelling; community snack time twice daily; and celebrations of the seasons are the center of our school. Our belief is that children learn best through open-ended imaginative play and we give them the time and space for this exploration. As a cooperative, the teacher designs and implements the curriculum, and parents work to support them in creating a safe nurturing environment where children are free to learn, explore, and play.

Carolyn
Carolyn Pugh enjoys nurturing preschool children with songs, stories, art, nature and plenty of time for imaginative play. Her three daughters are all MBPS alumni, and she loves the unique cooperative model of the school and the community that it provides. In 2019, Carolyn became the lead teacher at MBPS following seven cumulative years as a parent and assistant teacher at the school. She has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in history, and will complete her Waldorf Early Childhood teacher training through Sound Circle Center in early 2023. Outside of teaching, she enjoys family time, yoga, board games, birding, cooking, and sewing.
