My daughter is thriving under the care of Teacher Violetta. In her second year at Mount Baker, she loves knowing what each day will bring. Whether it be climbing a tree on their daily outdoor excursions, eating a warm meal, hearing a story, watercolor painting or just playing with her friends, she looks forward to each day. We are so grateful to be a part of this loving community.
Our family was looking for a neighborhood school that would provide ample time for exploration and play, but with a strong sense of routine and rhythm for our daughter, who has experienced a lot of moves and transition over the past year. She is always eager to go to school and especially enjoys the wonderful songs, routines, walks, and meals each day. I am really pleased that she spends so much time in nature, especially at Bradner Gardens and the PlayGarden. It has also been a treat to watch her (and our whole family) develop relationships with other parents that live and work in our neighborhood. While I wasn’t originally seeking out a Waldorf school, I have come to appreciate a great deal about the values of the school and am grateful it’s a Waldorf school for “the rest of us” and within reach for middle-class families.
We were initially attracted and interested in MBPS because of the daily, outdoor nature walks, the warmth of the teacher and the overall environment of the preschool. Now that my son is in his second year at MBPS, I feel like I have a good grasp of Waldorf education and can see how the philosophies have become integrated into his personality. We were already an outdoorsy family, but now my son will ask to play outside, rain or shine. He is also able to play independently in many situations. We love the parent community at MBPS and have made wonderful friends through the school as well. Overall we are truly happy we chose MBPS for our son’s early childhood educational experience!
I love being a part of a cooperative preschool and the opportunity I have to observe my son and the other children explore, play, and make sense of their world. Our family highly values the outdoor time that is part of the daily MBPS routine, as we notice it is crucial for our son’s development and happiness. I also really enjoy being a part of the community of parents and have cherished the relationships our family has made because of this school. Our family feels so grateful to have our son experience a wonderful start to school.
